del.icio.us

Today, I am playing with del.icio.us. I'd heard of it in my internet travels before the whole krl 2.0 thing but I'd never been quite sure what it was. Looking at it now, with a better understanding of it, it's pretty much totally awesome. I've actually set up two accounts - one for work and one for my internet leisure time. 8)

For work, having resources I regularly use (and a network of other people who are also listing useful sites) right at my fingertips has obvious advantages. At home...well, I have a huge and intimidating folder of bookmarks at home. I save a whole lot of things - recipes, crafty things, stories of all kinds - and then, when I want to go back to them later, I can never find them. It's going to take weeks to categorize and tag all of my bookmarks but the end result will be well worth it. God, I love tags.

And in the mean time, I get to rediscover all the stuff I thought was worth saving.

(Though I have to say, I find the name off-putting. I mean, I know most people just say "delicious" but it's get all those periods in the middle! Surely, one is meant to pronounce them in some way. Are they glottal stops of some kind? Since the "icio" and the "us" are split apart, is one meant to pronounce them more separately? These things bother me.)

Hi Sara, Playing with del.icio.us now, too, and likin' it. I just tagged your blog. I was skeptical, but this tagging thing really makes it easy to manipulate from site to site. Maybe when I have time I'll even set up a del.icio.us account for paying all my bills, and make that onerous task marginally less onerous.

Maybe you should set a trend and pronounce each syllable like it's Italian, Del Icio Us.

Hey, Sara. I tried to work with del.icio.us, but my Imac resisted the tool bar buttons. Not sure why, but I am glad to know that someone is already using it and digging it. Great. I think I need to take some stuff off my computer to free up some memory, but not sure, since I am not a tech geek and my son isn't answering my wall posts on facebook to lend assistance [this is his OLD Imac.]!

Anywhoo...just a bit envious that you've already got two accounts.

Hey Hannahgrams:
It might not be the memory in your Imac, it might be the web browser you're using. Is it Safari? If so, you might want to try Firefox. It's a free download, compatible with Mac's and PC's. I love it.
I know, one more thing to try, but who better than you?

I will also pimp mozilla firefox at you. It's amazing customizable and altogether fantastic. (And very easy to use del.icio.us with.)
